I have greatly enjoyed (and will continue to enjoy) my masters project: studying chaotic variability in coupled ice streams. By seeking out a project that appealed greatly to me, I have maintained an enthusiastic and curious approach to research which, with the support of my supervisor, lead to my presenting at the British Applied Mathematics Colloquium (BAMC) conference this year.
This was possible due to the Ogzur Akman Bursary, which serves as a competitive fund for MSc students to use for their projects and trips such as conferences and given talks. After speaking at BAMC, I was honoured to be invited to give a talk to a research group at the University of Oxford – which wouldn’t have happened had I not had the support of the Ogzur Akman Bursary. I’m excited to have the opportunity to turn my masters research into a paper, which – alongside my research experiences – will stand as a strong foundation for my future PhD applications.
