“When I travelled to the UK, I was a little worried that I wouldn’t make friends because I was from a different country and had a different upbringing. However, my first year accommodation played an important role in my adjustment to Exeter. Everyone was really lovely and they wanted to help guide me through life in England…I got lucky that when I walked into my accommodation, I found my best friends.
Societies and cultural events help you settle in as an international student. Plus, Exeter is quite small so you keep running into the same people…It’s a safe place. If you’re walking somewhere, you will get there in 20-30 minutes at the maximum from campus. It is a good place to live in because you are always surrounded by your friends. If you were in London, you would have to get a train to see your friends…The transition at the beginning was a little difficult but now I can’t stay away from Exeter for more than a month!”
