“Two of my favourite modules are Social Media: Management and Strategy and Promotional Cultures in Consumer Society. What I value most is the freedom to choose the brands, industries or even specific campaigns we want to explore, which makes the learning process feel personal and relevant. Together, these modules cover almost everything I enjoy about marketing on digital platforms, including CGI, influencer marketing, storytelling and ethical branding. Studying these areas is particularly engaging because I can experiment, reflect and refine my ideas using the frameworks introduced in class. It feels like a genuine test drive for the future.
The approach taken in these modules has helped me develop strategic thinking, creative adaptability and the ability to anticipate challenges. We are encouraged to think critically, identify gaps and produce stronger solutions. This mindset will stay with me long after I graduate, when I will need to apply these skills in a practical, real-world market.
Although I have not yet taken part in placements or field trips as part of my course, I am currently exploring summer internship opportunities in social media strategy or marketing communications within the hospitality sector. I have also begun using the career support services available at Exeter, such as CV review sessions with the Career Zone, which I intend to make full use of while applying for summer internships.”
