“One of my favourite parts of being a medical student has to be the clinical skills sessions. I’ve always found them incredibly useful, especially from the fourth year onwards, where we run simulations of medical emergencies. The hospital placements are great teaching hospitals, and the learning environment is largely positive and supportive, which makes the process that much easier. The early clinical placements are also helpful because you get a sense of what you’re working towards – and can apply textbook knowledge to real patients. I’ve truly enjoyed the modules on the course. Some that stand out include “Doctors as Teachers” and “Medical Humanities.” As someone who has always loved teaching outside of medicine, it was amazing to bring creativity into my medical education through learning to write poetry as well as teaching piano to complete beginners.”
